Experts estimate that a cryptographically-relevant quantum computer will be available within a decade. At the 2017 Can-Tech conference, Mike Brown, CTO & Co-Founder of ISARA Corporation, stated we must “start planning now,” in order to remain quantum-safe as quantum computers gain power and relied upon encryption is broken. Author David Canton describes why time is of the essence to migrate to quantum-safe security:

“That may not be a simple or quick exercise, given the layers and complexity of encryption. [Mike’s] message was that we need to start planning for this now, and it may take an effort greater and more challenging than the one that fixed the Y2K problem.”
